Who this is for

For people who have been “on” for too long

Most people do not book simply because they want to try an instrument. They come because something in their body has not settled for a while. Many of the people I see in The Hague moved here for work, function perfectly well on the outside, and quietly notice that rest does not seem to reach them anymore.

  • Stress that will not switch off

You close the laptop and your system stays on. Evenings, weekends, holidays, the alertness travels with you.

  • Not sleeping, or waking at three

The moment it gets quiet your head starts running. You are tired all day and wide awake exactly when you do not want to be.

  • After a break-up or a hard year

You understand what happened and you still feel it in your chest. Breath and sound can sometimes reach what talking alone has not shifted.

Different on the outside, the same underneath. A body that has not had the chance to switch off.

Why it is played in the room

Sound you feel before you hear it

The bowls and the gong are played close to where you are lying, not from a speaker. You do not only hear the sound. You may also feel the vibration in your chest, your legs and the surface beneath you. For many people, that physical experience makes it easier to slow down than listening to a recording at home.

I studied sound healing at the Yogshri Academy in Rishikesh, India, and trained as a breathwork facilitator in Utrecht. Most sound baths are shared group experiences. This one is different: the pace, the instruments and the attention are shaped around you.

You lie down, the bowls are played beside you, and the vibration travels through you rather than past you.

The full session

How the two hours go

You do not need any experience with breathwork, and there is nothing to prepare. I guide you through all of it.

  1. 1 About 20 minutes Sitting down first

You tell me what is going on and what you are carrying at the moment, so I know what we are working with. You do not have to have the words ready.

  2. 2 About 45 minutes Breathwork, lying down

We use conscious connected breathing. You lie down, I keep guiding you the whole way, and it creates space for something you have been holding. Sometimes that is tears, sometimes tingling, sometimes a deep quiet. All of it is welcome and none of it is something you have to do well.

  3. 3 About 30 minutes Sound bath and integration

You stay lying down while I play the bowls and the gong right next to you, with music underneath. Most people say this is the part they did not know they needed.

  4. 4 About 20 minutes Landing before you leave

Water, a moment to sit, and a short talk about what happened and what to expect for the rest of the day. You leave with something practical you can use at home.

The instruments

Collected over years, played by hand

The bowls, the chimes and the gong are the real thing, gathered from the places this tradition comes from. A gong bath is often the part people remember longest.

“It felt like going on a journey with many different sensations. The vibrations of the variety of instruments impacted different areas of my body and mind. I battled with trying to relax and calming the mind, but by the end of the session I felt so relaxed, calm, and connected with my body. I was particularly amazed by the gong bath.”

Two ways to do this

Both are private, both are in the studio in Scheveningen, and both are held in English or Dutch. They are not a long and a short version of each other, they do different things.

Not sure which one? If you want rest and quiet, and you would rather not be asked to do anything, take the hour. If you have been carrying something for a while and you want it to move, take the two hours.

This is coaching and body work. It is not medical or psychiatric treatment and it does not replace care from a doctor or therapist.

Who you are booking

Hi, I am Jens

Before this I spent fifteen years in corporate consulting, so I know the kind of tension that builds up when you keep going for years without ever putting anything down. I am not going to talk to you about energy or the universe. We stay with what you can actually feel: your breath, your chest, your shoulders, and the moment something lets go.

  • Trained as a breathwork facilitator at Holos Institute in Utrecht
  • Studied sound healing at the Yogshri Academy in Rishikesh, India

Private groups

At your place, or with the two of you

A private sound bath works just as well at someone’s home as it does in the studio, for two people or for a small group of friends or colleagues. Send me a message with the location, roughly how many people, and when you were thinking.

“My girlfriend and I booked a private sound healing session at Jens’s home. What we got was an incredibly pleasant and relaxing experience in an intimate setting.”

Questions

Good to know beforehand

Do I need any experience with breathwork or sound healing?

No. Most people who book have never done either before. There is nothing to learn in advance, because I talk you through every step while it happens.

Should I book the sound bath or the two hour session?

The hour is sound only. You lie down, I play, nothing is asked of you, and you leave rested. The two hours add breathwork before the sound, which is the part that tends to move something rather than only calm it. If you want quiet, take the hour. If you want something to shift, take the two hours.

Is this a spiritual thing?

No. I keep everything with your body and your breath, and I use plain language. The instruments come from an old tradition, but what happens in the session is physical. Your breathing changes, your body responds, and it may feel like your system finally slowing down.

Can we do the session in English?

Yes. I work in English and in Dutch, whichever you are more comfortable in. Many of the people I see in The Hague are internationals, so English is completely normal here.

What should I wear or bring?

Comfortable clothes you can lie down in, and something warm for your upper body, because you can get cold once you settle. Try not to eat a heavy meal in the two hours before we start. Everything else is here.

Is there anything I should tell you in advance?

Yes, if you are pregnant, or if you have epilepsy, a heart condition, high blood pressure, or a history of psychosis. Breathwork asks something of your body, so in those cases send me a message before you book and we will look at a version that is safe, or at whether this is the right moment at all. This is coaching and body work, not medical or psychiatric treatment.

Where exactly is it, and can I do this online?

The studio is at Kranenburgweg 93S in Scheveningen, part of The Hague, and you get the directions by email after booking. Breathwork does work online, but the sound is the part you want to be in the room for, so these sessions are held in person.
